Hey lovelies! Welcome back to the blog. Today, I am so excited to chat all about my experience with Skin & Me. I’ve had a bit of a rollercoaster ride with it—going from a long-term user, taking a little break, and finally coming back with brand-new goals.
If you are trying to navigate the world of prescription skincare or just want to know if it’s worth the hype, here is the honest breakdown of my journey!

Phase 1: The Texture Triumph (March 2024 – January 2026)
When I first started, my main goals were pretty simple: fix my skin texture and boost overall brightness.
My skin generally behaves itself unless I’m dealing with a lupus flare-up, so I wasn’t fighting major acne, but I definitely needed some help in the glow department!
Skin & Me started me on a custom daily Dosier. My routine evolved over time:
- The Starter Blend: 10% Azelaic Acid + 4% Niacinamide
- The Next Level: Tretinoin 0.009% + 4% Azelaic Acid + 4% Niacinamide
Did it work? 100% yes! It completely cleared up my texture issues.
The Plot Twist: I actually stayed on this exact prescription for a bit too long. Because my texture was totally fixed, my goals naturally shifted, but I forgot to tell the Skin & Me team!
The Intermission: Approaching My 30s & Over-the-Counter Retinol
As I started nearing the big 3-0, my focus officially switched from texture to anti-ageing. I decided to take a few months off from Skin & Me to experiment with high-street products.
I picked up an over-the-counter retinol, and while my skin was perfectly fine, I wasn’t seeing any real results. I was also still desperately chasing that bright, radiant look.
(Side note: I usually swear by the Skin Rocks Antioxidant Serum for brightness, but it is currently out of stock… Skin Rocks, if you are reading this, please sort it out! My skin needs you! 😭)
Phase 2: The Return & The “Glass Skin” Era (August 2026 – Present)
Realising that high-street retinol wasn’t cutting it, I signed back up to Skin & Me in August 2026. This time, I made sure to update my skincare concerns to focus heavily on anti-ageing and brightness!
Here is my new, tapered prescription plan:
- Starting Dose: Tretinoin 0.006% + 4% Niacinamide + 4% Azelaic Acid
- Target Stopping Point: Tretinoin 0.015% + 4% Niacinamide + 4% Azelaic Acid
Even though I’m still early into this new routine, the results are already showing up. My skin has started to get that gorgeous, luminous glass skin look which I am absolutely obsessed with. We aren’t quite at the final destination yet, but we are well on the way!
The Honest Review: Pros & Cons
The Pros:
- Medical-Grade Ingredients: You get powerful, prescription-only ingredients (like Tretinoin) that you simply cannot buy over the counter.
- Expert Guidance: An actual dermatologist reviews your photos and prescribes what you need. No more trying to guess your routine based on TikTok videos!
- Tailored to You: It is perfect if you are struggling to fix a specific issue or if you love skincare but don’t know where to start.
The Cons / Things to Keep in Mind:
- The Price: It can feel a bit pricey depending on your budget. Personally, I already spend a lot on my skincare, so it probably works out about the same (or even cheaper) than buying multiple separate products, but it’s definitely an investment.
- User Maintenance: You have to remember to actively update your skin goals on the app, or they will keep sending you the same formula!
The Verdict?
I highly recommend it! If you want to stop guessing and start seeing real results with medical-grade ingredients, it is so worth it. Just remember to keep them updated as your skin changes!
